First of all, it is humorous that Dglenn1 chose to point to a thread asking if Kamado is still in business, but the relevant post in this thread said that he went to BBQs Galore to buy a Big Green Egg thermometer:

But notice that Dglenn1 didn't mention BBQs Galore in his post. It is only mentioned in the thread that he pointed to. So why is RJ talking about BBQs Galore thermometers when Dglenn1 is talking about BGE thermometers? Because he wants to spread misinformation, that's why! Any opportunity to falsely bad mouth BGE, that's why!

Dan, BBQ Galore thermometers only go to a maximum temperatures of 550 degrees. It would be best to have a 750 degree thermometer as we have.
