The rod firebox is 3/8 cold rolled steel.

What is the life expectancy as compared with the traditional firebox and are the any noticable temperature variations from one th another? |
Well, I'll be! RJ isn't claiming it is SS! In that case, Vinnie, it should last as long as his tiles and top damper rods do. Not very long.... |
