New Kamado Extruded coconut Charcoal?

This stuff should be superior since it's made in their very own factory.... Right?

We are very excited about our new Kamado Extruded Coconut Charcoal (KEC) made in our own factory. Our new KEC is superior to any charcoal we have ever sold, including the original from the PI. We have increased the weight and size of the box. All KEC will come in 20 pound boxes and slightly larger box. The wholesale pallet price will remain much the same at $9.99 per 20 pound box or 50 cents pound (49.95 cents a pound). Earlier prices were $7.99 for a 16 pound box or 49.94 cents pound. We are taking orders now and hope you can take advantage of the wholesale pricing.

The picture below of one of our ash and burn test that might be of interest. Note the complete ignition within the briquette and negligible white ash.

The audacity of it all

This got me to thinking... How can he dare to ask for another do-over on the charcoal???

He's had one or perhaps two batches of undeniably high quality coal and for whatever reason, has never been able to replicate them. But rather than fess up and take corrective action like another importer did when his shipment was subpar, he's blustered and slandered and lied repeatedly about the quality, user opinions, and sources of subsequent shipments.

He has managed to avoid giving refunds for laughably poor and even unusable coal by hiding behind exorbitant return shipping costs.... a business strategy perfected selling 600lb pieces of cement to the (initially) unknowing and the (later) gullible.

And now he thinks he's going to be granted a do-over???

RJ, you just don't get it. The flim-flams get less effective with each passing escapade. You can move your snake oil wagon to the next town but you leave a slime trail that your best con game can't overcome.

All this begs the question... other than getting a thumbs up from the Naked Whiz, how is anyone supposed to believe that this isn't the same shitty batch of coal he already has and can't sell?

Given his history, isn't it much more likely that he just had some new boxes made? Maybe that's just it.... he paid (or promised to pay) a couple hundred dollars for some new boxes and he hopes to sell a few thousand dollars of otherwise unsellable charcoal?

The reason he cannot repeat the first batches of good extruded coconut is that he never paid for them. The manafacturer won't deal with RJ and RJ's reputation in Southeast Asia is now sh*t.

Clearly the thought that RJ has a new charcoal manufacturing faciliity is laughable. You would imagine that to set up something like that, RJ would have had to travel to Southeast Asia to make arrangements. Jeez, RJ hasn't told us lately of any travels. No photos of factories. Laughable...

I think you may have latched on to R.J.'s new angle to off load the old charcoal ! He has increased the box size to sell it quicker and is claiming to be selling the new superior stuff wholesale. He says that he made this charcoal meaning he will not need to mention who or where the supply is coming from. It was easy to acquire since he already had it. The gullible fanboy's are eagerly lining up to buy some. He and the family probably packed it neatly too! I can't wait to hear the fanboy reviews. Very laughable.....

Hasn't anyone inquired as to WHERE this charcoal is being manufactured? Surely its not in LV so is it in the same factory that he supposedly is making cookers. That place certainly wasn't capable of manufacturing charcoal. Even the fanboys aren't asking any questions.

Well, we certainly can't ask, lol! But it is indeed amazing. If RJ were telling the truth (and there are fanboys over there who believe anything he says) you'd think they'd be all over this. RJ says this stuff is EVEN BETTER than the Philippine stuff. And by gosh, RJ is making this charcoal himself! What better way to support RJ than to buy his charcoal! You can only buy a cooker once, but you can buy his charcoal until the end of time! So, why aren't the fanboys all over this? It was an truly exciting announcement and not even a whimper? Dang!

Has anyone ever seen coconut charcoal burn with a flame like that? Has he got a MAPP torch underneath it or something? No way coconut charcoal is going to burn with a bright yellow flame like that.

I thought the same exact thing...something just doesnt look right about his picture. We can see the chicken wire rack he has the charcoal on, and the picture looks like there was a pretty long exposure on the shot, too. I was wondering if there wasnt a heat source, or maybe some forced air under it to make it hotter?

Show a little compassion. It's all fun and games right up until a Kamadette breaks a nail.

Seriously. It's been 5 days since that glorious announcement and the only interest has been in our renowned ceramic engineer's inability to use decimals. Embarassed

Well this still looks like the old crap as it is much longer. The good stuff is in shorter pieces.

Not to mention he says the photo shows the incredibly low ash. Actually, it looks like the pieces are totally ignited through and through, yet they look like they are solid ash. The good stuff would have disintegrated into a small pile of ash. These things hold their shape just like the old crap. RJ is blowing smoke again...

The flame caught my eye too. The flame looks to yellow to be a proper flame of good charcoal. I did a little digging around and the yellow flame indicates that there are impurities in the charcoal that should have been cooked out when the charcoal was made. Clearly RJ has "made" a bad batch and now is trying to sell. it. That is what he gets for taking shortcuts when making charcoal.

For some good pictures of how charcoal should look when it is burning check out The Naked Whiz's website. Maybe we could get him to post one of his pictures here for comparison?

Dan we are sending samples now of the "new" Extruded Coconut (KEC) from a small shipment we received this week. There is not much left, but more coming in now. Be sure to get an order to reserve what amount you might want.

The total price is $9.99 for a 20 pound box, FOB from port of Los Angeles or San Diego. We do not charge an "in and out" warehouse charge. We do not, at this time, have a minimum quantity charge. Note, these are wholesale prices and are subject to change.

We are consolidating containers with Meridian who brings in Extruded Hardwood Logs from the same port in Indonesia. Meridian uses these extruded logs for fuel in their Meridian stoves and fireplace inserts, as well as use for all other fireplaces instead of cord wood or "Presto" waxed sawdust. We look forward to working closely with Meridian as they do foundry work as well for their cast iron & brass doors used in their products.
