Leave it to the Naked Whiz to discover something about the true ceramic cooker inventor that all our super-sleuthing couldn't turn up:

So who is Farhad Sazegar? Well, he was a flight engineer for Flying Tigers back in the 1960's. His main route back then was to Japan where he first saw the ceramic cookers. He started importing the clay from Japan and developed and designed the patent for what became the Casa-Q and soon after he started a manufacturing company called SAZCO. So it turns out that we have a man named Farhad to thank for our present day ceramic charcoal cookers!

WTH? Where did he got that from? Surely couldn't get that from Google.

Guess he has an info gathering network that rivals ours. And to think I scoffed at him when he earned his first ceramic laurels building a BGE cart model with popsicle sticks and a plastic Easter egg.

I seem to recall someone - whiz maybe- having contact with Farhad's daughter. Maybe she provided some info?

How funny. My Dad was a 747 Captain for Flying Tigers and said that a lot of pilots brought the Kamados over from Japan back when he was flying. He flew with Flying Tigers from about 1974 until they were bought out by FedEx in 1989. Retired with FedEx in 1996.
