Yet another big cooking holiday passes us by....

So, here we are on Memorial Day, one of the biggest cookout, grilling and barbecueing holidays of the year, and not a whisper on the Kamado forum from any of its followers or even from the Johnson family. I guess they couldn't be bothered to drag themselves out of the casinos to remember the service men and women who gave their lives so that "people" like him can steal sailing yachts, steal money from suppliers, and all the rest of the litany of unpleasant things that RJ has unleashed on the world. Sad, really. I hope you are enjoying your holiday, RJ. No doubt you are taking a well-deserved rest from all the work of keeping up with your bogus spring sale. Makes you want to puke.

Oh, and RJ, if you read this and think you can make us look bad by rushing and posting one of your insincere wishes for your "kustomers", it's after 2pm in Vegas now. That was plenty of time for you to post something. Posting in response to things you see here doesn't count.

Memorial Day memories........What happened to my order?

Here's an old thread nearing Memorial weekend and some unhappy kustomers. LaserGeeko put his foot in his mouth back then too. Although there is also some great dialogue here. Enjoy! Razz

I'm afraid you will have to wait another month or so. I ordered a K-7 a month before you. My last promised ship date was April 27. As far as I know they have missed this ship date too. I sent an e-mail and called but no one has answered up at Kamado.

Ok, I was told via email over a month ago it was being sent out that week... I hate complaining, but I really want my order. Why is this happening anyway owners?

I ordered a K-7 on 1/31, ship date was given as 4/7. About a week after 4/7 I was told ship date would be approx. 4/27; but I would get a call about 5 days prior. I haven't been called so I am assuming my order is at least a week from shipping. I haven't called to check on my order yet; I will e-mail if I don't hear anything by the end of business today; but I am getting very frustrated and wondering if I made a mistake.

I would suggest that you call David at the new VA office. He and Kim have the best and most consistent contact with the factory and can help straighten out any order questions and get you current, accurate info. The east coast numbers are

(804) 915-7411 or 877 627 2549

You have NOT made a mistake; Kamados are hand built, one at a time. It can be frustrating because they tend to run behind their promises on delivery, but what they WILL deliver is something you will use and value the rest of your life.

Actually, George, a real mistake would be to settle for a Little Green Egg or other ceramic cooker whose biggest claim to fame is "you can buy one today!"

Yeah. There's a reason for the easy availability: lesser demand for the inferior product.

All of the finest, handmade, custom products in the world have waiting lists and seem to take forever to arrive. Kamados are no exception.

Why would you choose to bash a competitor as a way of defending Kamado? The guy never mentioned any other cooker.

For the record, BGE demand is pretty good.

The issue here is not which cooker is better. The issue/complaint is the way the customer is treated. Several people have been told their accessories have been or will be shipped. When in actuality they weren't shipped, even after second and third promises.

I think we all understand it takes time to manufacture a K and that there may be delays in the process. What we don't understand is why Kamado hasn't done what they say they have done or do what they say they will do in the future.

I was told my April 1 shipping date was a conservative estimate. Then I'm told some problems set them back three weeks and it would ship April 27. Now I'm wondering if it is going to be possible to plan a BBQ for Memorial day.

I hope you can all understand how one gets to the point of wondering if they made a mistake. This has been a very long and slow cook for some of us. Especially after reading about all the good things the Kamado experience has to offer.

Your 8th contribution to the Kamado discussion in the last 3 years kind of rings hollow, especially since "bashing the competition" is a often repeated topic in the "green room", but I suppose it is a chance to cross promote your book none the less.

Ray is a great cook, no doubt about it. I enjoyed his class, I've enjoyed his food at an eggfest, and I'm sure I will enjoy his book. But the post above (on the K forum) would sit better with me if he disclosed for all his sponsorship by BGE.

I thought I was welcome here. I didn't know I needed a minimum amount of posts to join in.
I still haven't seen a reply to my question though.

Drbbq is obviously a major JA, and I am a good judge of character. I look forward to not buying his book. There is plenty of great advice on this forum, so who really needs it.

Why you would come to this site and do just what you rip on others for doing is beyond me.

Ditto what jiarby said.

So I guess 58 posts is enough? I may get there tonight.
