#5 Parts and Cobalt Tile Available

My 2005 MexiK #5 Cobalt did not survive the winter of 2007-08. Tiles were falling off and the damper top was crumbling. I stripped some tile off last spring, got sad when I saw cracks and voids, so I wrapped it in a tarp for a future review and possible repair. Today I uncovered it and decided it was truly dead. Before my son and I took the sledge hammer to it (great pictures, but I'm not cool enough to have a place to post) I stripped off the following:

1 Two gallon bucket full of 2005 era cobalt tiles
1 Pair of side tables with the needed bottom band for mounting
1 Lower bracket
1 Main grill (stainless, though hard to tell)
1 Upper grill with bracket (stainless, though hard to tell)
1 Lower draft door
1 Intact fire box with grate, no thru cracks

Now, to start fixing the cracks on my 2003 IndoK #7. I have cracks in the top where the spider meets the concrete.

Now wait a minute...

This falls squarely under the lifetime warranty! You should tell Richard (or Tony, who is Richard) about this IMMEDIATELY and he will get you fixed up RIGHT AWAY!

Yup.. That's what you should do...

Sometimes I amaze even myself.. Smile

I did contact RJ

I emailed RJ with pictures in Spring of 2008. Was told M6x would make it all better. Many emails later, no reply. I had no expectations of resolution (especially after it being suggested I should have covered it) I even posted here asking for repair suggestions, which several people emailed me directly. Life did not allow such time for repairs. Even then, I suspect they would have been futile. It was amazing how quickly a sledge hammer went through it.

Chicken wire

Amazingly very little. I'd have to sift thru the wheelbarrow of debris but the only places I recall seeing it was around the lip of the top and/or bottom.
I need to figure out where to post the pictures of the demolition.

Sorry to hear of the demise of your cooker Rolling Eyes Anyway, I would be interested in picking up some extra cobalt tiles. Let me know the best way to arrange that, and as we all learned by now, get a Primo or BGE next time
