I've been trying to order a new rod firebox for my #7 for two months. At first no one in the sales department could even answer my question- Does the new rod firebox eliminate the need for the ceramic fire ring? My fire ring has crumbled away and I have been "making do" since. I relied on the forum to answer my question and since have been waiting for a reply from Kamado. Has anyone else had similar experience?

I have the rod firebox and it does replace the ceramic fire ring.

Smokin_amish, we sent you an invoice for a new ceramic firebox at N/C other than shipping charge and are awaiting payment. This was sent July 14,2009. Would you like to change to a rod firebox? Please email sales if you would like the rod firebox. Sorry if you never received the answer to your question about the whether the rod firebox replaces the ceramic firebox. As Bigbobed stated, the rod firebox does replace the ceramic firebox (aka "fire ring").

As Richard has suggested, you might want to just order some M63 to repair your present ceramic firebox. Probably just a couple of pounds would be more than enough and would only take a few minutes.

Can somebody please explain to me where they got this "old email address"????? Couldn't they have used the one he's been using to email them? The lies that Laura and Richard Johnson spew are just unbelievable!

Well at least you got E-mails from somebody at that outfit in the past week or two. Thought they fell off the edge of the earth with my money. I haven't even gotten a "kiss my grits" from them.
