Would any of you nice customers be willing to show a potential
customer in the CHICAGO area your Kamado. He is interested in a #9 but
any size you have would be very helpful. Please email sales@kamado.com
if you can and we will let him know and how/when it might be
convenient. Thanks, Richard |

Chicago? Reckon there's an intact K left above the Mason-Dixon line?
It's a shame he didn't ask a few months ago, I bet Chicago's Tskyrocket would have let him examine this MexiK #5:

I hear he's got a #7 that might be worth looking at.
Or, if he really wants a eyeful, and an earful, how far is Porkchop from Chicago? |

I sure that nice person that RJ is looking for would have to email the crack sales team their williness to show their POSK more than once -more than twice - more than thrice. In RJ's world inbound emails have a way of never making it to sales. |

It'll be like any other communication with them, it's either done via the forum or not at all. |

Some of us can show that potential new customer our cancelled checks and the noticeably empty spots in our yards where we thought our POSK's would go when we paid for them. I mean, I'm not close to Chicago but I have a digital camera and the ability to photograph empty space in my backyard pretty well. I think several of us could do that so the person can see who's got the nicest non-grill set up. |

Find this Fish! |

If anyone can locate this fish, have him stop by my place! I've got something they'll really like to see, and they can sample some goods cooked on it inside! Ribs and chix everyday and pulled pork every Sat morning till it's gone! My KK is parked outside, chained up in case it rolls off the sidewalk and into the street...it might total out someones vehicle! |

Chicago Customers... |

Just so you all know... I am the one Richard is asking for..
I have been looking at his product, then I found your site here. It (your site) showed up as a pop up on security search engine my IT guy installed. I haven't purchased his product as of yet. Do any of you know just how many Kamado grill have been made? The failure Rate? at one year, 5 year, 10 year ? This information would be helpful Is this a limited issue with his product or is just complete Junk?? I did talk with Tony (in Sales) and expressed my concerns and referenced this site. I also asked about the SFBBB rating of a "F" with 14 cases and 12 open.
I also had a 30 to 45 minute talk with a Richard. I asked and expressed some concerns with him. I am still waiting for a list of Illinois Customers so I can evaluate this product. Any and all information would be appreciated. |

Hi Defcon, it's all "K"rap. Get a Komodo Kamado if you want a quality product with tile and that look. Or just buy a BGE. Save yourself the headaches and enjoy the BBQ. I hope this helps. |

Hi Defcon.
My #7 took almost 11 months to recieve and 3 years to get all the ordered (and payed for) accessories. It has cracks all the way through the lid, a replacement fire ring ( NOT from Dick, they didn't respond to many e-mails or phone calls) and massive tile failure. It's just 5 years old. |

Chicago Area Egger here |

Defcon--My finding this site was the reason I did not buy from the crooks.
I did look at most all of the ceramic grills on the market and bought BGE.
I am very happy with the BGE ---I have 3 now.
FYI there is an Eggfest in Lake Zurich tomorrow---You should go check it out, if anything, you will eat well.

No matter which ceramic grill you buy, you will enjoy it.
As you can see in past post's here if you buy from RJ,you probably will never get your grill!!!! If you do, its made of konkrete. |

I think thats the biggest point here, you won't ever get your cooker. Unless you willing to put up with many promises that get broken and can wait one to three yeats for a cooker. And yes once you get it you will be very aggravated with all the problems you have with it. As the rest say there are many other options, this one is by far the worst. |

While you should be very concerned about the quality of your cooker, and there are good reasons to be concerned about Kamado cookers, you might ask yourself if you want to do business with Richard Johnson, a man who has:
1) Stolen a racing yacht and sunk it,
2) Stolen $40,000 from one of his investors (tcoliver can tell you about it),
3) Stolen container loads of charcoal from a distributor in Indonesia,
4) Fled Indonesia in the middle of the night, the very night before he was to meet with his lawyer and his creditors, leaving all his creditors high and dry, and putting dozens of workers out of work with no notice,
5) Stolen $10,000 from The BBQ Guru,
6) Constantly refers to his cookers that are made from common cement as "ceramic",
7) Takes money from customers and doesn't deliver what they ordered.
You can ask Tony Oliver about the investment scam. You can ask Shotgun Fred at the BBQ Guru about the stolen merchandise. You can view the photos of all the horrible cookers that have fallen apart here: http://www.geocities.com/kamado.quality/ Take a good long look around this forum. Find the photos of Richard's "production facility" which by the way is now shut down in Indonesia.
You are lucky. You have a chance to do some research and make an informed decision. Good luck! |
