Nam Sang 1973 Maestri Bros.

Recently became aware of a blog by Michael Maestri. It's been around for nearly 3 years and has about 30 entries. In it, Mr Maestri chronicles much of his adult life and frequently lapses into lengthy discussions about politics and philosophy.

Per one of his blog entries Monkeyshines chapter 13, Mr. Maestri and his two brothers entered into a business arrangement in 1973 with "Dick Johnson" concerning the Nam Sang. Do a text search for "Laguna" to start reading about the Nam Sang ordeal. The story continues onto the next entry (click on "newer post" for the continuation for the story).

The blog entries are long and sometimes very convoluted. Mr Maestri is a complicated figure and his writing reflects it. His Nam Sang saga isn't just limited to his interaction with Dick Johnson. In his entries he alleges that Dick Johnson and others independently attempted to swindle the brothers out of their ownership of the yacht.

It makes for a fascinating (and at times frustrating) read. The same can be said for many of the other entries.

For a little collaboration of this story: here's a tiny snippet from a 1973 Pacific Islands Monthly that lists Michael's older brother, P(eter) Maestri as the skipper of the Nam Sang.

Very intriguing, right up to the part where this guy left his body behind and took a trip on an astral plane....and then back to his jail cell in Indiana. Is this the same person who said he had an interesting story on the Johnson family and never posted anything?

No. I'm confident it's not the same guy.
