More photographic evidence that RJ's cookers are Krap |

This is pretty stunning evidence of the quality of Richard Johnson's cookers. We all know that the shells were made of portland cement and lava rock, not ceramic material like RJ advertises. But you would think that the fireboxes would have been made of some sort of ceramic material since they were going to hold the burning charcoal. But lo and behold look at this photo from one of RJ's poor customers:
That firebox is crumbling. We all also know that fireboxes for BGE's and Primo's and perhaps other brands will crack, but have you ever seen one crumble? What in the world is RJ using to make these shoddy fireboxes? Here is the post:

Any suggestions on how to support a lumpsaver when the fire ring breaks up and is not repairable?

Here's the pictures you asked for. I tried to email them, but apparently it never got to |
Notice the RJ doesn't want to talk about it in public. Like always, he tries to keep it out of the public eye by asking the poor sob to email him. And then the poor sob tries to email him and it doesn't work! Fortunately for the world, the poor sob posted his photos in public. (He posted a second photo but it was essentially just a rotated view.)
So how long will it be before RJ comes up with some sort of stainless steel rod firebox replacement that he tries to sell to customers who thought they had a warrantee for this kind of product deficiency? And how long before RJ deletes the post with photos? |

Isn't that what RJ's "lumpsaver" is supposed to be? A rod firebox replacement? |

well that is the recent marketing. ... the lumpsavers evolved because everyone was having fires go out because the holes would plug on the concrete disc at the bottom of the firebox. So instead of resolving that design flaw he introduced the lumpsaver accessory (pioneered as a 'huck wok' by a forum member).
Since the firebox was crumbling for so many, rather than address the problem (poor material), he introduces another accessory, rod firebox.
And now after so many damper tops have frozen up, crumbled, etc he has introduced his latest accessory...the collar/damper
And the real insult is he keeps selling the accesories to customers who should be getting warranty replacements/resolutions.
The guy converts an operational cost (warranty item) into a profit opportunity. What an opportunist! |

Admin, I think you are right. He wasted no time in developing an item that he can sell to customers rather than provide warrantee service. "What's that you say? Your 60,000 mile steel-belted radials wore out after only 500 miles? Well friend, let me show you our 80,000 mile model! Yessir! You buy a set of these and put them on your car and those old tires will be nothing but a fond memory! And I won't even ask you to return those old things you got now." |

From the current on-line owners manual: "LIFETIME GUARANTEE We guarantee your Kamado will never "burn out," or break such that the unit looses its ability to function. Our formulas will withstand heat that can be obtained with charcoal. You can truly expect a lifetime of enjoyment."
What is all this talk about "purchase" and "cement" and "repair?"
Bigbobed - Anything happen to the K other than normal Kooking? Keep us informed on how this gets resolved. Dan |
How can he have posted 104 messages and still not know that there is no warrantee? RJ isn't doing his job! Why hasn't RJ banned this guy yet? Start the post-will-be-deleted clock now! |
