Ivorystone, properly carbonized charcoal, including coconut, has very little or best no smoke (or flavor). These volatiles have been released during the carbonization process. Also proper charcoal does not have flames or sparks. Most add a very small amount of flavoring wood when a particular flavor is desired. For many of us, we rarely add smoking woods as we do a lot of pizzas and baking of all kinds where most of us do not like smoke, just retained heat from the ceramic walls and clean burning charcoal.

Most would agree, I am sure, that typical lump burns hotter and much faster. Especially when most charcoals are not carbonized fully and easily have flames when the charcoal has enough combustion airflow. Secondly, extruded coconut shells and our extruded hardwood are tightly compressed briquettes and not porous allowing combustion air to the charcoal as quickly.

We are making our own extruded coconut now and have better quality control. Nakedwhiz might be making an analysis of product we do not make or did not make. It might be well to ask.

Talking about HOT charcoal, the hottest I ever used and I used it for MANY years before we ever extruded coconut shell briquettes, is coconut SHELLS (not extruded). We have brought in a few containers but we were never able to get the larger shells because they were most often crushed into smaller pieces. Since we have our own source now we can get larger pieces of the shells. There are some older pictures on the forum of the larger shells being used. Maybe someone can help find the pictures. Also, a few coconut shells are great for starting charcoal if you donít have a gas burner.

The girls will be in the office Monday morning and will give you an update on your Kamado arrival. Regards, Richard.

It would be nice if RJ's suckers did go and try to find out about RJ's horrible charcoal directly from an independant source that has done the testing. RJ clearly doesn't make charcoal and isn't really qualified or objective enough to really give his suckers any real information.
