Might have missed this one too. It was gone quickly.

Richard, this is, if you remember, a person who has previously bought
8 Kamado's over the past several years. My name is Ed Schwing
(orchided), and I am having one helluva time getting you, Deborah or
your Daughter Richelle, to respond to my telephone calls or emails.
What gives? Thus, tomorrow I will cancel my order (10271) and dispute
my order through PayPal and my credit card for failure to perform. I
am p _ _ _ _ d. I am believing more and more the website related to
"Kamado Fraud". Believe me, I am fed up!!! There can simply be NO
excuse for this sloppy operation!

There was another missing post today. It was a reply to RJ's post about the "Christmas Sale" ending soon. Anybody catch it?

Now THAT name is a REAL blast from the past!

Ed's one of the nicest guys you'll ever meet. He grows champion orchids and was a big fan of kamado cooking. He participated heavily in the earliest days of the Kamado Forum. A valuable resource, to be sure.

Sad to see even this long time supporter is having grief with Richard. Not unexpected, but still a bummer.

Go get 'em, Ed! Good luck!

David, I am in Universal City, just NE of San Antonio, and right off of IH35, and outside Randolph AFB. We have a #7 from early 1998, and a new #3, just being broken in. If ever down this far, give a yell, we are in the phone book (Edward L. Schwing).

However, I will tell you up front, you will NEVER go wrong by purchasing a real Kamado, from Kamado.com. You have never had Q'd food until you have eaten something off of a Kamado! (and I am not a stock-holder either)

'Ol Ed
You would think RJ would at least take care of a faithful guy like 'Ol Ed. I am sure glad that Ed wasn't a stockholder. Smile

I wonder if we are witnessing the beginning of the highly-anticipated demise of Kamado. They have stopped advertising on eBay, Craig's list, Amazon. They hardly post any more. They don't respond to email's and phone calls, and delete posts from long-time faithful customers. Jeez, why don't they just put everything and everyone out of their misery and fold the business?

Ed Schwing? I vaguely remember Ed Schwing. In fact, courtesy of the webarchive, here's his first post on the K forum more than 10 years ago:

I found the Kamado webpage for the first time today. I was purposely looking for a Hibachi, of old (1965), since we had used them for over 30 years, and could not find one to replace our last one, who recently went to Hibachi Heaven!

I sent an email to Richard today, prior to reading all of the messages on here. Now I am wondering if I can trust doing business with him. Seems to be an awful lot of questionable practices that others have experienced. Please, let me know what you think. I am in Texas, and would not be close enough to make sure that I get what I might order.

Your comments would be appreciated.

Sometimes you should go with your first impressions.

Unfortunately, the webmaster, apparently a major fanboy, exerted his influence:

I ordered mine and it was delivered without any problems whatsoever. Richard was always friendly, helpful and professional. I have another friend at work (who got me into Kamados in the first place) who also had a very good experience with the Kamado company. Please feel free to email me:

Mike

And that's all it took. Just three days later, Mr. Schwing had ordered:

I thank all those who responded to my posting back on the 25th. I had used the old Japanese Hibachi's since 1965, and was rocking between the BGE and the larger Kamado. I spoke to Richard last Friday and ordered the #7 with mosaic tile.

Again, we thank y'all! If you like beautiful flowers, check out my webpage at: http://orchided.home.texas.net .
