Those people in the AZBBQA have some really crazy members (jiarby!). I understand that they have a lot of fun, too.
If you really want a good BBQ contest, come to the National BBQ Festival in Douglas Georgia, October 29, 30, and 31, 2009. It is two separate contests in one weekend, beginning with the Best of the Best (top 10 teams from all of the sanctioning organizations in the U.S. and Canada all get invitations) and finishing up with Smoking on the Square (all those in the invitational, plus anybody else that wants to enter) on Saturday. I personally helped cook and fill the presentation box of the 1st place pork in 2007! Florida BBQ Association did excellent in 2008.
